Snippets and Stories: (WtI) Worlds Apart (Pt. 1)

"Syras, come back."

He turned to see a familiar face calling to him. Yet try as he might, never before could he recall having met another of such striking likeness.

Hair a silvery white, heterochromatic eyes of mismatched shades, the mole just past the corner of their left eye. Somehow he recognized what his eyes couldn't with perfect clarity, all of the features that adorned the albino.

Unsurprising, abysmal as his sight is. Yet somehow he simply knew these things without having seen them.

This and more.

And somehow.

"Neiro."

Just the same, did he know them by name.

"It's okay, Sigh." They beckoned to him, "C' mon, let's go back."

Trust did not come with ease to those of skeptic Heart.

But it came, unbidden. The overflowing faith he had in this stranger took him by surprise.

This person felt comfortable. Familiar, even. They could be trusted.

Why.

There was no sense to it. No rhyme nor reason, except for the illogical inclination. But he did so anyway.

One foot in front of the other, closing the distance between them even as logic urged him to run. To trust a mere stranger was absurd.

Stopping just shy of the stranger, they stood in silence, simply taking one another in for a moment.

Then Neiro welcomed him with outstretched arms.

And he found that he couldn't refuse the warm embrace that somehow felt so comfortable and right.

"Syras, I miss you. Wont you wake up?"

The next Time he blinked, it wasn't to the open nightscape but the familiar pale cream of the ceiling, and a smiling pair of mismatched eyes, "Syras!"

He blinked blearily as he sat up, "How long have I been asleep."

"A couple hours. Not long." His greying flatmate shrugged, "Should probably move to the bedroom."

He peered at the screen. Gravity Falls, a cartoon Neiro had dubbed "mind blowing" and best of their Time, "Sorry. Didn't mean to cut it short."

Neiro waved the apology, "Nothing we haven't seen before! Besides I'm feeling pretty out of it myself. Bedtime sounds good right about now."

Silas nodded.

His companion stood, stretching with a pleased hum as his body popped, before offering a hand to him. and together they made their way back to their quarters to retire for the evening.
