It was difficult to discern depth, having lost the vision of his right eye.
An odd world it was. Despite the visible spectrum and the possession of a perfectly functional eye, everything seemed muted.
Dull and lifeless despite what should've been a vibrant colorful world.
Mute in one, blind in the other. To say he saw nothing was at best a lie, for that in itself was something. The endless darkness that spanned his world.
And yet.
When the very consciousness was wrenched from his body by the Astral Pod and thrown into the void, the windows from which he had been but an observer, were thrown askew.
Where there once lay a muted world altogether vanished, and in the other was a plethora of pulsing prismatic streams, of wispy shapes and forms. As if the very color of Life were alive, and breathing.
In an eye that should've seen naught but the gaping abyss, did a most frightening sight greet him as he gazed upon the visage of his closest acquaintance then.
Where the dear albino should've stood, was instead a monstrous mass. Every shimmery strand seemed to flow back to this creature, every pulsing flow followed the contours of its form.
Silas stared at the creature, and with mild perturbation, realized it to be observing him so very calmly.
It seemed nigh simultaneous. The realization that neither of them were as invisible as they presumed. That they were both aware of one another.
The creature hesitated.
Then swept into a small bow in a manner that was almost reminiscent of playfulness.
Silas on the other hand had no such sense of levity, and was taken aback.
The gesture had been eerily uncanny in its disarming resemblance, almost as if it had been--
--his vision shuttered and he was met with the puzzled and concerned face of his companion hovering over the Astral Pod.
"Sigh. You alright?"
Grimacing as he sat up, and nodded. It didn't escape the attentive pair of heterochromatic eyes though, that he was cradling his head.
The capsule released and Neiro pulled the hood up, reaching in to help him sit upright. He made to do more, bit faltered, and slowly lowered his hand, biting back an urge to remind Silas to take it slow.
The Invalid was a proud one, and didn't tolerate what they considered to be needless and excessive fussing.
Even the silent, grudging acceptance of his presence now was difficult enough, let alone asking and receiving help.
"Neiro."
The albino perked at his name, arms looped under Silas's own arms and waist, allowing the other to lean heavily into him.
"Did you perchance see anything whilst I was in? And following that, any actions you may have taken for the duration of this trial session."
Neiro hummed, "After you went in, I saw this odd shimmer, and then you appeared! ... Well. The projection of you did anyhow. Prior to that just observational notes. Near dropped them after you appeared though." Neiro snickered, "Took me by surprise! Waved, but I think the projection dispersed before that."
"Is that so?" Silas pulled his weight from the pod and slumped against his flatmate, "Any other anomalies?"
"Nothing."
"Noted. Add to the observation that it is likely that the external environment is of a different dimension of visibility." Silas clambered to his feet, rising slowly and with great difficulty. The illness had progressed quickly in recent months, "We'll try again on the 'morrow."
All the more impetus to finish this project.
"Got it."
