Shirlain's StoryBook

Updates:
2019.07.28: Published the 1st of three planned segments for the prologue of Briar Patch. Story pages are also properly categorized for the most part, but I may need to find measures as to be able to display more of them w/o pushing into the extended Header: drop down menu. I'd like for all titles to either be displayed and carry on into a 2nd row of headers, or have the scroll function. Mayhaps I should try Google Sites?

There's been a lot of organizational issues lately so a lot of revisions are underway to sort out and finalize how things will be organized!

Home to the strange menagerie of ideas, characters, and worlds of one Creator. Amongst them are the various stories spun, Welcome to Insanity being one of the oldest such yarns, and though I've woven for years, have yet to see its making.

Synopsis

The Briar Patch (BP): The world is a dangerous place, but that doesn't stop one small creature by the name of Vye, from trying. Someday the Verdance would return to the land, though he knew not how, only that life would find a way. Life wouldn't just persevere, it would prosper, and burgeon. Just as it always did.

Welcome to Insanity (WtI): All he had in mind was to live out his remaining days in the peace and quiet of his Tea shop, tucked away in some small, rustic, and rural town. Of course, Neiro wouldn't have any of that and in the end, inadvertently drags the reluctant patisserie behind him as always. The duo are thrown into clashing head on with insanity, transcending the sequence of time and existence itself as they cross timelines, the veil, and dimensions, shattering all borders of imagination. Entangled in the confounding nonsense that has become his reality, all in all, Silas has come to expect everything, and nothing, in the paradox that is life.

North Star (NS): A little girl, now grown, searches for a long lost friend to finally bring about closure to their decade long game of hide-and-go-seek.

The World From a Turtle's Back (WFaTB): When the rivers run dry and the Earth tremors ominously, a trend occurring throughout the whole world, a young man leaves the small paradise of his dwindling hometown in search of answers and a way to save the haven he calls home. What he finds though, is far more than he could have ever anticipated. Yet for all the convoluted complexity, the multitude of layers and hurtles of Life, sometimes it's the simple things that matter most.

Amelioration (A): There are those born with enhanced traits, and among them, two Elementals at a prestigious institution try to get along with the shy new addition to their shared boarding, a Dredge, or one who lacks any affiliation. But what others don't understand, they scorn, and at Times fear. Such can but lead to torment in a vicious cycle that but escalates and deepens that of the same. To add to the confusion, a sedition by one influential speaker has led to an uprising of growing controversy that further divides Enhancers and Dredges.

Lucid (L): Vivid are the dreams of the wanderer, and ever is she lost in them be it day or night. Unusual, for her stark remembrance and recollection when dreams passed to reality, and even awake, she never truly was. Like chapters would they unfold, and memories would she revisit. Seren has come to know these vibrant individuals of creative fancy. Yet the matters of the Heart, she never pursued, it simply never struck her. That and, it is in these worlds that she would meet such who would tickle her heart. But Time goes on, she grows up, and with the help of another whom minds not the clouds, she finds anchor. Dreams however, are whimsical things, the more you grasp for it, the more you lose it. Let it be, however, and it comes forth.

Hiatus

Rekindle/Dog Days Shorts (R/DDS): Nothing was ever certain except the continuation of change itself and perhaps in following that, the uncertainty of the future. She is but a wanderer passing through in Sonder, mind hazy and with little ground to stand on, searching for that which has ever eluded her and the only thing to keep her grounded. Someday she would be there, a small quaint cottage surrounded by lush green that she tended do, the orchards laden with fruits, their fragrance thick  in the air. But the dreams grow ever vivid, as do the shadows that reach for her and threaten to overtake. So the nights are spent running away. But you can't outrun yourself.

The Dark Circus (DC): Spoken of only in hushed voices behind closed doors and obscured by the same convoluted whispers that are both the bread crumb trail and the birds whom feed off of it, it is the epicenter of all black market exchanges. When something precious is stolen from her, Little Shirl is determined to get it back, even if it meant delving into the obscure depths of the Dark Circus. With her double, Tiral, the two dive straight into the heart of the spider's web where looming in its center, still and patient, lies the ever vigilant ringmaster. Scheming and laughing at the puppets whom forever dance within his ring at the tug of a string.

Kindred (K) [formerly known as Variegation (V)]: Kindred is a typical superhero-esque comic mostly done for the random, spontaneous, and flamboyant costume designs, and some good ol' garish fun. The overarching plot, however, runs through the story of four who unwittingly bring out a manifestation of potential, borne from an accumulation of the essence of life--aethor.

Insanity (I): The thoughts and stories of one, to whom all others seem nothing if not deranged, and in their most lucid of Times, crazed. But when everyone is insane but oneself, isn't it the one alone that is insane? Sometimes it's difficult to stay grounded, when anyone and everyone is against you. More so when you don't even know yourself.

Soulstice (SS): Cheshire of Bantam was the frog whose only sky was the blue circle above his well. Wanting to see more than the small world he knew, he journeyed far. And met his untimely end at the sharp blade of a Night-kin's scythe on the night of the Harvest Moon. Heart carved from his chest, he feels nothing of the vibrant colors of the living, not joy nor sorrow, accomplishment or loss. He is complacent to be. Would be were it not for the pulsing pebble that urges him to find the Heart he's lost.

Merry Chase (MC)
Under consideration (2nd story of the 3rd Stop).
