BOP 5: Idle Thoughts

To begin, I have failed my BOP. Brain splatter it was not, and definitely out of the 10 min. range. Not only that but the thoughts are specific and directed towards a particular story/series rather than freeform. While it is within bounds to write whatever you please, the problem is that it was not a continuous train of thought and certainly not a single sitting.

For this I apologize and will soon establish a separate title for snippets of the story Amelioration, and hence I intend to begin the real BOP.

Forswua had been discharged the following afternoon and all was right.

Or it should've been.

Igneus heaved a much suffered groan, who was he trying to fool. Though his twin seemed fine, Sil had been skittish as of late and made himself scarce whenever the two came back from practice.

Something along the lines of a new project or assignment, or that the remedial class was becoming more intensive, and then the redhead would excuse himself quickly.

Forswua himself had been indifferent and shrugged it off. Perhaps he was worrying too much over nothing, but knowing Sil, the Animator was likely bothered by the recent spice in their life.

When the two had unlocked the front door, Sil was already throwing on his coat and was snatching his bag from the doorway, right on time for their arrival.

He hollered, or as close to a holler as would be for him, something about an after school practice session, and darted off.

Igneus had just pulled on a set of loungewear when he abruptly stopped. Today was as good a day as any to find out what the redhead was up to. Putting it off to fester could lead to no good, least none that he could see.

With any other, His mind made, Igneus rushed to throw on a change of clothes.

"Did you forget something?" said Forswua, as his brother made a 180 for the door. There was low halfhearted mutter that he had to strain to hear, "Something's wrong with Sil, I'm going after him."

Forswua had been lounging on the couch, but now sat up to catch his brother's eye. "It's his business, leave him be." But Igneus waved him off, pulling on his sneakers. Forswua tried again, "He's never going to learn to be independent if you're always hovering over him."

There, Forswua knew he had gotten the message through when saw his twin hesitate, weighing the pros and cons. But it was a short lived success. Igneus swiveled around and met his gaze evenly, "Sil isn't like us, he's been sheltered. He'll learn to fly on his own wings but first he must grow the feathers to fly with, and what friend would I be to not see him through?"

Forswua felt a scowl pull at his lip, and he allowed it to show. "He's an adult, he can take care of himself." Why couldn't Igneus see the crutch he was giving to the redhead?

"Forswua..." Came the drawn out response, Igneus's brow furrowed as they usually were when they bickered.

"He'll learn faster without you playing 'mother hen' and worrying over him." he bit back, irked by the whole exchange.

"He's not like the rest of us. People aren't born equal, not even us as twins." The moment he spoke, Igneus regretted doing so.

His brother's countenance darkened, and his voice took on an icy bite, "Not even us as twins." He mimicked, not in jest as most would assume. Igneus knew better than anyone the bitter weight they carried.

For all their twinship, the two of them together, despite being carbon copies, were the best juxtaposition and epitome, of that idiom.

"Seb, I'm sorry-" he started, but Forswua cut him off. "Do what you want."

Forswua lay back down, arms crossed behind his head and languid posture purposedly set in a show of lounging about and eyes closed. Igneus knew it was his way of saying, "I'm done." With the conversation.

He sighed and turned on his heels to chase after the short statured redhead. The problems just kept building up.

When the door had clicked shut a second time, Forswua cracked an eye open. The Elemental peeked at the doorway, then turned onto his side to face the sofa irritably.

He tossed and turned a few more times before sitting up and ruffling his hair with one hand. Forswua glared at the scattered belongings at the doorway, pensive.

He grimaced, he hadn't noticed anything. Sure, the redhead seemed busier than usual, but he hadn't thought much of it. Then again it as Igni who was the more socially attuned of the two. But here was where the twins differed most strongly.

Whereas Igneus took the side of intervention, Forswua was more given towards the policy of isolationism. Either way, whether something was wrong with their flatmate or not, he didn't see eye to eye with Igneus's involvement.

It was the redhead's problem. If he needed help then he should come to them. Unwarranted help would just result in disaster.

Yet on the flip side, though he loathed to admit, he was worried for Sil. Just a little.

The child was too sensitive, and it bothered him that every little thing, from his callous way of brushing people off, to his perpetually annoyed demeanor, seemed to unnerve the Animator.

Their first week of rooming had been difficult and full of misconceptions to say the least.

Sil had avoided him then as well.

"He's too soft." He muttered.

It was like holding a mere chick. Small, soft, and helpless. The only difference was Sil never peeped. He had yet to hear a single complaint from the timid redhead.

Forswua glanced at the clock. With a growl he swung his legs over the side and dressed himself, pulling on his shoes and running after the other two.

In his hand, was his cell, IM almost finished. If memory served true, Sil claimed he had extra practice.

The only classes he had been taking that he would actually need to put in extra time into, was his Enhanced course.

And all Animators were in Block Z.

With that in mind, he set his sights there, at least until he heard back from his twin.

Scrapped:

"You're going again?" said Forswua, somewhat incredulous as his brother made a 360 for the door the moment it had clicked shut. Igni gave a half-hearted roll of the shoulders, "Something's wrong, he's been dodging and tip-toeing around lately."

So it was that he ended up trailing their flatmate to and fro home as he left.
