In an lush green meadow of a color reminiscent of a the fleeting Spring season, was a house, small and quaint. From a red chimney rose a plume of smoke that carried with it an aroma of slow roasting meat.
Before it was a sinuous path of large stepping stones that was framed on either side by river rock and bordered by fruit trees and herbs. It trailed up up to a shaded patio where a large chair swing stood, swaying softly with the passing zephyr.
As he turned he saw her.
A petite figure yet with a healthy earthy appearance. Her brilliant brown hair glimmered with the rays as she twirled, the drawstrings of her mauve jacket swinging as she did. On the front was a gold threaded dandelion
The brunette ran towards him and skipped the last couple steps in a big leap into his awaiting embrace.
How comfortable it felt to relish in the warmth of another. How soft and warm she felt even as wisps of hair tickled his face. Contented, his eyes slipped shut and he allowed his other senses to see for them.
When he next opened his eyes, it was to a sterile white room that smelled of lightly of disinfectant. A small pang of loss struck him as his subconscious searched for the remnants of the pleasant future with a lover and haven that he had dreamt and could nie feel. But a ghost of a touch was all he remembered, and in its wake the feeling of loss as his senses were deprived of the contented warmth they had been so saturated with earlier.
There were people talking in low voices, though he wasn't fully aware of the exchange.
"Sil?"
He lifted his head from where he had been comfortable, blinking the sleep from his eyes.
"'m awake." he said tiredly. His head still felt heavy with sleep as did the ache in his body from sleeping upright in a chair.
Iggy laughed and handed him a bottle of water, "Here, it'll help wake you up."
Silvanus took it with a mumbled word of thanks, taking a long swig. Finally feeling more awake and on top of things, he glanced around, taking in his surroundings.
That's right. Last night they had gone to a party after their exams had finished. There had been someone tailing them after the party and then-
Sil looked at Forswua sharply and felt a discomforting squirm in his core.
The blankets had slipped slightly, revealing the white gauze wrapped protectively over the injury.
It shouldn't have been Forswua who took the blow.
Sil caught the Elemental's eye and quickly wished he hadn't. There was a scowl there. He lowered his eyes quickly, hands worrying his sleeves with a fresh onset of guilt.
Unbeknownst to him the twins exchanged a look, with Forswua's being disapproval and Iggy's, though likewise mirrored, a touch more concerned.
Seb couldn't understand why Sil seemed so distraught. Everything was fine. It wasn't like the redhead had been even remotely injured in the aftermath. Hell, he was the one who ended up limping away from the fight and then forced to stay overnight in the ER. He scoffed at the thought.
What were they thinking, staying in this uncomfortably claustrophobic room?
Igneus withheld a sigh as he watched the scene play out. Forswua was far too rigid in his mindset, and too apathetic to realize where Sil's discomfort truly stemmed from. He rested his elbow on the railing of the gurney and his head atop that.
Someday, hopefully soon, they would all be on the same wavelength.
