Snippets and Stories: (DD) Bad Start

Everything was wrong about Zephyr.

Not one thing was right.

Everything about them was contradicting. For some Zephyr was a perpetually smiling child all laughter and merry cheer. Others saw them as a quiet child that though young, was grim and weary, the few Times their voice was raised, told of wisdom surpassing the apparent youth.

A child of too many faces and not a single facet a fitting mask.

Sometimes Zephyr was brave, standing up for another, be it a full room of peers, or in front of a superior. Other Times, there was not the courage to even speak for themselves.

Both the optimist and the pessimist, but also the realist, spiteful and bitter, yet desperately pursuing the noble path of forgiveness. A misanthrope and a philanthropist.

Someone who desperately believed in humanity, and yet also understood the utter futility that was the utopia they so strove for.

Zephyr had an innate empathy for others. Not in the overblown fictional sense, but a primitive understanding of the emotional and psychological state.

Which is why they were a poor judge of character.

Emotions were conveyed, but intent was not.

Though Zephyr desperately desired to trust in others, there was none lost between them.

But it is the same distrust that would compel Zephyr to reenact such, for the simple fact that they wanted to believe, and for that small spark of genuine hope and trust, though distrust reigned supreme.

And because, in the small momentous period, did they truly, with all heart, believe.
